Where I Come From- Capri Van Gilder (Memoir Project)

  1. Capri-You did amazing :). I love the overlapping idea and how each memoir tied in seamlessly. I loved how you had your sister record a quote from your memoir. I don't have much to criticize, this should be an example for other classes! Maybe just shorten and go straight into the main idea and examples instead of putting in "this is my memoir" kind of an idea. You did fantastic! Great pictures and supports.

  2. I really enjoyed watching your memoir Capri! The story about your water balloon fight was a little unclear, so you may want to think about adding some more detail to that. The story about your fish was good and I liked how you tied everything together really well at the end.

  4. Capri,
I really enjoyed your project!! I loved how you really explained who you are and why you're that way. I liked how your pictures really enhanced the stories, and how you put so much emotion behind your words. If I had one thing for you to work on it would be to ennunciate your words a little more. Great job!!!

  5. Fantastic job, Capri! You did a great job in your photos and audio, minus your sister screaming. I really enjoyed it and you're so cute!

  6. Capri-

I liked your project, it had good flow and the proper amount of depth. Your speaking was a little fast and loud but over all the visuals improved the story telling in a proper way. I liked how you used a mix of personal pictures and stocks. Great job.

  7. I like how you actually had your sister in the voice. I saw that not a lot of people did that in their memoirs, so that's good. However from time to time I can't really understand what you're saying, but your volume was good. Good job.

  8. Self Assessment: I felt like I had clear organization. I had a topic slide, to introduce the theme, and a conclusion slide. I had good transitions to show that I was moving onto another memoir. For content, I had good background info and I stated my explanation clearly at the end for that memoir. I also entertained the audience by changing pictures and having my sister talk (loudly) into the microphone. For verbal techniques, I showed emotion in my voice and kept my voice at a good volume. For media, I switched off from pictures to text, and also used typed comments to explain where I was in the picture. My voice enhanced the pictures by giving a story as to why the pictures were placed where they were. For preparation, I pre-wrote my script, so I wasn't just randomly rambling into the microphone. If I didn't say the voice-over correctly, I deleted it and re-recorded it. My presentation was around four minutes, so I met the time limit. Overall, I give myself a four. Three of the areas were in the advanced column, and two were in the proficient column, so I went with the majority.

  9. I loved your memoir. Your images really tied into the theme (my favorite is the first one)I loved how your sister recorded a part. The only small thing I would say is try adding just a little bit more detail. All of your stories were really cute, but try to make your theme more clear. Your speaking was very clear and energetic and you used inflection appropriately. Awesome job!
